The boss who loves his job and doesn't have much life other than his work.  As his subordinate, you are no exception.  He expects you to treasure your work and get involved in your work as much as he does.  He doesn't understand that other people like you do have life other than work.  It would not cross his mind being not so nice to ask you to cancel your family outing just to work.  So, if you have this kind of boss, your life would be as dry as his, because he simply doesn't understand that some people enjoy life besides working.

You'd likely find this type of bosses hanging on every news of his work and wouldn't miss the chance of working .....
