The greatness of the man and the greatness of nature

Jan 8th 2008, 12:00 AM 1 raters

Hi to all my friends and family in the world.

Since my last post many things have happened, but it's always like this and I need to get used to it. Anyway, I've arrived at Los- Angles - it is a big and interesting city.

San Francisco was great and I learned a lot from my friend Liron, I think that I can learn from every person that I meet especially from people that already accomplished one dream and now they are on the way for another one, thank you Liron.

I gave a lecture in a nice Jewish school, the children knew Hebrew and it was nice talking about my dream in my own language. After I talked about my normal day a nice girl asked me:

"What do you do about taking showers on the way?"

I didn't know how to answer in a way that the children will not think that I am crazy

"When I am on the way I clean my bicycle more often then I clean myself..."

Everybody laughed, but they don't know that I clean my bicycle every 4 days.

After I left my friend Liron in San Francisco I started my way to LA on route number 1, one of the most notorious roads in the world.

That road was special and I met interesting people on the wayI read and dreamed a while ago in Israel on the Big Sur section on that pacific road, and I was so happy to be there.

In the Big Sur I saw a lot of wildlife: dolphins and elephant seals.

The beaches there are amazing with big waves, a real pleasure to the eyes.

To tell you the truth when I cycled on this amazing place I didn't think that I am cycling to circle the globe, I was cycling to meet with my childhood friend, Zeev Slavin.

To meet with him was a really emotional moment in my life, for almost 4 years I didn't see my brother but like always with good friends I felt like it was yesterday, when we were in Oranit's secondary school enjoying our childhood.

I was happy to see Roei Fine and Liron Simon my friends from Israel who also came to LA. We were a small group of friends from a small village in Israel and we are now together in this big city in AmericaIt is a small world after all (very rare feeling in my trip)

I would have been happy to be with my friends when Ivry and Ophir got married back in Israel. In that day I felt very far away from home, with the help of my phone I could hear the ceremony and I was jumping to the ceiling when Ivry broke the glass. We were celebrating and drinking beer from 10am.

In Los Angeles I met many friends that I encountered previously on my way (Tom, Marek, Andrew) and family of my best friend (Yehuda Naftali) .

It is very important for me to stay in touch with all the interesting people that I met.

In LA there are many Israelis and in some places you think that you are in Israel and not in the west coast of America.

Israeli food, Israeli music, Israeli TV and Israeli way of living (for good or bad).

I had the luck to meet Menahem Zilberman (an Israeli actor), Menahem lives in LA in the last 5 years and he is the editor of the Israeli newspaper in LA. He gave me a great tour of the town from many aspects.

He wrote a nice article about me and my journey and gave many lessons and good words about my shows (on the news) and writing. To hear this from a professional in the media is nice.

Couple of days ago we were in Las Vegas (with a car...) for 2 days.

I wanted to see this amazing town and it was very interesting place to see, I was in shock for hours.

Seeing  all the lights and people, and to think that 5 days ago I went to sleep in 7 pm alone in my tent and the only light that I saw was from my headlight.

To describe my shock in a better way I'm quoting what my best friend Zeev wrote in my diary:

"I am trying to enter jinji's thoughts and understand what's going through his head but I can't. To take an active wild animal and set it down in first class can be seen as an abusive act."

To be in Las Vegas and to cycle in the Big Sur coast is very different in some ways but also similar in other ways.  On both of them you don't know which direction to look:

Up or down, right or left, back or forward and after you finish seeing them you think that you didn't see anything yet and you want to go there again : The greatness of the man and the greatness of nature.

I wonder if the feeling to stay at the best room in the Belagio hotel where you see all of Las Vegas amazing skyline is similar to the feeling when you arrive to the top of Mount Everest. Both are the top of world for different people. I will know the answer only when I get there

As for the near future

The next post will be from Mexico, a new country, new language, new culture, new beginning.

No more western world for the next year or more (central and south America and then Africa).

It will be great.

"I want to ride my bicycle; I want to ride my bike.

I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride it where I like"

Love you all
