What is a lace wig

What is a lace wig

A lace wig is a wig made with human hair tied to a lace base cap. The two types of lace used in lace wigs are French lace and Swiss lace. A lace wig has lace at the hairline. The lace at the hairline secures the wig to your hairline with liquid adhesive or tape. When the lace is adhered to your own hairline, it gives an invisible hairline, making it look as though the hair is growing out of your scalp.

A good quality lace wig will be made of Indian and Chinese Remy hair. Remy (or Remi) hair is the complete hair strand. Remy hair has not been weakened by stripping.

Remy wigs are made with a careful process. This process leaves the cuticle in place. The result is stronger, superior hair. Still, this hair has undergone some processing (such as cleaning, curly perming or dyeing).

Remy hair often referred to as "cuticle hair" because the cuticle is intact. Hair that stripped of the cuticle, often chemically treated to give the hair an artificial softness and shine, which wears down over time, causing tangling and a poor appearance. Remy hair does not have this problem and is the highest quality hair you can purchase. You may get tangling of all curly remy hair if you do not follow the retailers’ instructions.

Curly lace wigs need more care. If you purchase your lace wig from a reputable retailer, they will include care instruction. Follow the instructions carefully. Curly wigs can tangle so use the produces the retailer suggest and treat your lace wigs with extreme care. Straight lace wigs are easier to manage.

You should never wash the lace wig with dish detergent only use mild products on the lace wig.

Glossary of terms.

Lace front wig:

A lace front wig just has lace only in the front. Beware; most people refer to full lace wigs as lace front wigs

Full Lace wigs:

A full lace wig has lace all around the wig.

Swiss Lace:

Swiss lace is a thin lace. The lace is more undetectable. Note: Treat the lace with care due to its fine nature.

French Lace:

French lace is a thicker lace and is very durable.

Yaki hair:

            Is an afro American hair

Cap Sizing

Make sure you measure your head correctly or your wig will not fit.
